Reception and integration of refugees and applicants for international protection, who arrive in our country because of the conflict in Ukraine.
The conflict in Ukraine is turning into one of the biggest humanitarian emergencies in Europe since World War II. An estimated 18 million people (a third of the country's population) are in need of humanitarian assistance, inside and outside of Ukraine. As of April 7, it is estimated that due to this conflict, more than 4 million people have already left their homes and their country, in addition to the internally displaced.
The priority of the Red Cross to address this situation is:
- Support the response of the Ukrainian Red Cross and the Red Cross Societies of neighboring countries: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Russian Federation.
- Restore contacts between forcibly displaced people who have lost contact with family members in Ukraine or who have moved to other countries
- Attend to people of Ukrainian origin in a situation of vulnerability who have arrived in the country.
Attention to the people who arrive here is focused on 7 priority axes:
- Personalized coverage of the basic needs of displaced people: providing shelter and emergency accommodation, distribution of basic relief items and medical supplies.
- Strengthening their emotional well-being and psychosocial support.
- Legal assistance in the international protection application process.
- Reinforcement of skills and abilities for personal autonomy.
- Job placement itineraries.
- Establishment of networks with the host society and encourage equal citizen participation.
- Referral and incorporation into the public health system.
- Reinforcement and support in schooling.
