Provide emergency assistance to people affected by the tsunami, including medicines, specialized care, health services and food.
Last Friday, September 28, an earthquake of 7.4 on the Richter scale, followed by a violent tsunami, took place on the island of Celebes, in Indonesia, leaving a trail of destruction and a very serious situation for its population. Children in the affected places need urgent help to recover. Many of them have lost their loved ones, their homes, and everything that is familiar to them.
The latest figures indicate more than 1,200 deaths and thousands of people who require some kind of assistance, although it is still too early to assess the scale and impact of this devastating situation.
After a catastrophe of these characteristics, children are the most vulnerable. The first few days are vital, for this reason UNICEF is actively participating in the reunification of unaccompanied minors with their families, coordinating the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, protection and education.
- Deliver first aid kits.
- Provide drinking water to the victims of the tsunami.
270 people will receive first aid kits.
