Guarantee the right to an education for all children, that all children go to school.
Over the past 50 years, the world has witnessed an increasing number of crises caused by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics. When they affect education, they not only undermine the present well-being of children, but also jeopardize their future and that of their societies.
UNICEF works to provide an uninterrupted education to every child affected by humanitarian crises.
It provides safe, available, suitable learning spaces for children and equipped with water and sanitation facilities and ensure that while they are in school, children can learn despite their circumstances. Training and learning materials are also provided for teachers and helps children develop the skills they need to deal with disasters and reduce their exposure to danger.
At the same time, we work with teachers, parents and community members to ensure that all children receive the care and love they need in these circumstances; and with governments to include disaster risk reduction programs in their plans.
